Magazines

I have extensive experience as the editor-in-chief of magazines and newsletters, working closely with writers, designers, and photographers to develop creative storytelling that connects organizations with their communities.

Fordham Lawyer Magazine

As the editor-in-chief of Fordham Lawyer magazine, Fordham Law School’s flagship publication, I developed the concept for each issue and managed a team of staff writers, freelance journalists, designers, and photographers to execute the development of the magazine from the initial outline to the final product. I spearheaded the launch of a mobile-responsive digital edition of the magazine, which increased the reach and opened up opportunities for video storytelling and photo essays in addition to traditional text-based articles. The Spring 2024 issue featured a cover story on outgoing Dean Matthew Diller and his legacy at the law school, as well as a profile of National Women’s Soccer Commissioner Jessica Berman, and a feature story on how the law school’s alumni are navigating the brave new world of AI. The Fall/Winter 2021 issue featured stories on the global pandemic and the movement for racial justice. The Summer 2021 issue featured a cover story on Mohamed Sidibay and his journey from child soldier in Sierra Leone to children’s advocate.

Horizon

As the editor-in-chief of Horizon, Hospital for Special Surgery’s biannual magazine and annual report, I worked closely with stakeholders throughout the organization — from the CEO to board leadership to medical staff — to conceptualize and execute each 30-50 page issue. I supervised a team of freelance writers, designers, and photographers to create rich and compelling content that communicated the hospital’s excellence in orthopedic care and medical science and functioned as the flagship communications project to engage with patients, partner organizations, and donors.

Discovery to Recovery

When Hospital for Special Surgery launched a $110 million fundraising campaign to raise funds for basic and clinical research into musculoskeletal disease and injury, I created Discovery to Recovery, a quarterly newsletter highlighting the Hospital’s cutting edge science, research and medical staff, and programs. With the goal of translating the complexities of medical research for a lay audience, each issue featured news of scientific discoveries, interviews with researchers and physicians, donor profiles, and patient testimonials. Through vibrant photography, elegant design, and great writing, Discovery to Recovery told a powerful story of the hospital’s excellence in research and its impact on patients.
